France and the United Kingdom are considering the possibility of deploying their troops to Ukraine to ensure security and monitor the ceasefire during peaceful negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow.
This information comes from Radio Svoboda, citing a high-ranking NATO official who spoke on the condition of anonymity. He noted that discussions are taking place in Paris and London, but not yet at the alliance level. This is part of the preparation for potential developments, particularly if the U.S., under the new leadership of Donald Trump, initiates peace talks with Russia.
The official pointed out that France and the UK are actively working on various scenarios to support Ukraine. One of the options being considered is the deployment of military forces to oversee the demarcation line and monitor the enforcement of the ceasefire, which could result from the negotiations.
Previously, the French newspaper Le Monde reported that Paris and London plan to lead an international military coalition to support Ukraine. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated in an interview with BBC News that France "does not rule out any options" regarding the potential involvement of French troops in the conflict.
Interestingly, French President Emmanuel Macron raised the issue of possible French troop involvement in Ukraine back in February 2024, and in May, he added that if Russian forces breach the front line and at Ukraine's request, France "has the legitimate right to consider sending its troops."
