Scientists have recorded a new solar flare: will the week end without any geomagnetic storms?

What to expect from space weather in the coming days.
Ученые зафиксировали новую солнечную вспышку. Удастся ли завершить неделю без магнитных бурь?

Our planet is currently in the grip of a magnetic storm, while the Sun continues to experience flares. One such flare was produced by sunspot AR3878.

According to meteorologists from the space weather research site Spaceweather, the sunspot erupted on October 31, resulting in an X2-class explosion. This is the strongest type of flare.

At the same time, NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory captured bursts of hot plasma:

"The pulse of extreme ultraviolet radiation from the flare ionized the upper part of Earth's atmosphere, causing a shortwave radio blackout over the Pacific Ocean. Radio enthusiasts may have noticed a loss of signal below 25 MHz for 45 minutes following the flare," the scientists report.

They also add that it is still unclear whether the flare was accompanied by radio bursts, which typically occur during significant coronal mass ejections (CMEs). Meteorologists are awaiting data from the SOHO coronagraphs.

Magnetic Storms on Earth from November 1-3

As noted by the Meteoagent resource, currently, on November 1, our planet is experiencing a 5-point geomagnetic storm. By November 2, its intensity will decrease to magnetic calm, but on Sunday, November 3, a moderate storm of 4 points is expected.

Let us remind you that earlier "Telegraf" reported that a cyclone with snow is heading towards Ukraine. Meteorologists provided a forecast on where to expect bad weather.
