The forecast was accurate: how strong is the magnetic storm currently affecting Earth?

According to the updated schedule, the final days of the workweek are set to be quite hectic.
Прогноз подтвердился: насколько сильна магнитная буря на Земле?

An active sunspot, which has produced more than 20 strong flares since the beginning of the week, did not stop there. On February 5, a coronal mass ejection (CME) was released into space as a result of yet another flare. A magnetic storm began to brew on our planet. However, the sunspot has quieted down for now.

Sunspot 3981 calmed down after it released over 20 M-class solar flares earlier this week. Meteorologists from the space weather research site Spaceweather warn that this may be the calm before the storm.

This sunspot still possesses an unstable delta-class magnetic field, and NOAA meteorologists estimate a 25% chance of X-flares on February 6.

It is worth clarifying that flares are categorized based on their intensity. The smallest are called B-flares, followed by C-flares, then M-flares. The most powerful class of solar flares is X-flares.

At the same time, specialists from the resource Meteoagent, which bases its forecasts on NOAA satellite systems, TESIS, and scientific international meteorological laboratories worldwide, state that on Thursday, February 6, a strong magnetic storm of 5 points will persist. The following day, February 7, it will decrease to a strength of 4 points. No geomagnetic fluctuations are expected over the weekend.

Earlier, Telegraf reported on what the weather in Ukraine will be like in February this year. The forecast was provided by folk meteorologist Vladimir Derkach.
