An unusual cart has been discovered beneath a glacier in the Alps, lying there for ages. Check out the photos!

In Switzerland, traveler Sergio Veri discovered an unusual bamboo cart.

This was reported by Heritage Daily. The cart was found beneath a glacier in the Splügen Pass area, which connects the Hinterrhein valley and Splügen in the Swiss canton of Graubünden with the San Giacomo valley and Chiavenna located in the province of Sondrio (Italy).

The bamboo cart has been preserved since ancient times when a trade route passed through this area. However, it later became buried under ice.

Here’s what the cart looks like in the photo. Sergio Veri was the first person to traverse this ancient path after the glacier melted.

To the surprise of scientists, the cart made of bamboo rods and cords is well-preserved. Moreover, bamboo is a rare plant in Europe, as it primarily grows in tropical and subtropical regions of Asia. This moisture-loving plant was introduced to Europe in the late 18th or early 19th century.

The find has also been reported to the archaeological service of the canton of Graubünden. Scientists still need to inspect this discovery in person.
